Fishing Report
May 10, 2024
Spring is in full swing! The fish know it and are willing to play chess with you. Crappie are showing on small jigs and mini under spins. White is right for this time of year. Trout are on the no brainer train, pretty much everything is working. Rapalas, flicker shad, slow drifting crawlers and dough bait seem to be successful just about anywhere.
Bass are moving up to the beds so be gentle as a quick release is essential for a sustainable fishery here in Big Bear. Many great fish have been caught and released this spring, including a new Smallmouth record. The bass fishing will only continue to heat up.
Fishin Fool Chuck is putting the smoke on the Channel Cats with a selection of stinky stuff. Most of the action is on the East end at the moment. A big cat plant just occurred for the future crop so take what you want to eat and CPR the rest. Catch, photo, release.
Tip of the week!
Move often if you aren’t catching until you find them. And remember to smile and enjoy. A day of fishing without results is better than a day stuck in the office.
